Investigation of the effective response of 2-1-2 piezoelectric composites

چکیده
The question of the effective response of two-phase hybrid “fibrous-laminate” piezoelectric composites, with periodic microstructure, is adressed with two homogenization approaches: a full-field numerical scheme based on Fourier transform and a simplifying approach relying on a decoupled two-step homogenisation process. In the case of a two-phase epoxy/PZT composite, this latter is shown to overestimate out-of-plane effective piezoelectric coefficients.

Two-dimensional Axisymmetric Electromechanical Response of Piezoelectric, Functionally Graded and Layered Composite Cylinders
A mixed semi-analytical cum numerical approach is presented in this paper which accounts for the coupled mechanical and electrical response of piezoelectric, functionally graded (FG) and layered composite hollow circular cylinders of finite length. Under axisymmetric mechanical and electrical loadings, the three-dimensional problem (3D) gets reduced to a two-dimensional (2D) plane strain proble...

Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) as a piezoelectric ceramic has been used widely in the fields of electronics, biomedical engineering, mechatronics and thermoelectric. Although, the electrical properties of PZT ceramics is a major considerable, but the mechanical properties such as fracture strength and toughness should be improved for many applications. In this study, lead monoxide, zirconium ...

While active fiber composites (AFC) based upon solid cross-section piezoelectric fibers are very useful for anisotropic activation of composites, they require high voltages and are constrained to non-conductive matrix materials. AFC’s based upon hollow cross-section piezoelectric fibers have shown promise to lower operating voltages and broaden the choice of possible matrix materials. This pape...
